Gotta say, I don’t/didn’t really care for musicals.
The singing sometimes feels too forced.
Sometimes it breaks the storytelling for me.
Then, there’s the biggest part…
I couldn’t/can’t relate to most of them.
(maybe that means there’s a gap, I have to fill?)
Now, I’m taking a class about theatre, singing, playwriting and such.
I had to find a song to sing…
A difficult proposal honestly.
Took forever.
I actually asked ChatGPT
“Give me a list of musicals for a 2nd soprano who doesn’t like musicals”
ChatGPT: “Girl, you need to not.”
That wasn’t the actual prompt or response.
It gave me suggestions.
Most boring, uninteresting, and I couldn’t relate.
Loved the suggestion for Gentle Men Loves Blond, Diamonds are a Girl’s Best Friend
but my voice said, “Girl, now you and I both know we are not there…yet”
Then I realized, I wanted something funny, quirky, full of life.
And I got something…
I’m trying it out.
We’ll see how it goes.
